Large Decorative Flower Bowl
£140.00
A mini wood girl set inspired partly by the Japanese 'hanachozu' or flower basins, where basins for purification at the entrances to shrines and temples have been filled with cut flower heads - sometimes just as decorations or as part of town-wide displays, but they were also used during the Covid19 pandemic to prevent people from scooping water and spreading the disease. This is a reimagined version, set inside an Imari style pattern 'ceramic' bowl instead of a stone basin.
The set comprises of a wooden painted ceramic style bowl with eight mini wood girls, all with a chrysanthemum on their heads.
Artist notes:
My pieces are painted in a naïve and simple style, with visible brush strokes and differing paint consistencies. It is important to note that these pieces are made from real wood which will have naturally occurring markings and grain, and sometimes there will be small amount of bleeding along the grain, or knots, which is to be expected when using untreated wood - please make sure you consult the pictures carefully before purchasing. The piece has been finished in a top coat of matt acrylic.
Stamped underneath on all mini girls with a little bear head in blue ink. The barrel has a blue bear logo and painted year date and signature.
Wooden bowl: 12.5cm diameter, 7cm height. Mini girls: 4.8cm height.
Please note: THIS IS NOT A TOY and should be kept out of the reach of children.
