'Donburi' porcelain jar with cork stopper
A porcelain jar with decoration inspired by the hanging handwritten menus of Japanese restaurants - in this case a donburi restaurant. 'Donburi' means 'bowl' and is a large bowl of rice topped with different things - each different topping gives the bowl a different name, for example 'Ten Don'/ 天丼, is a bowl topped with tempura, and 'Oyakodon'/ 親子丼, is simmered chicken and egg on top .
As with most of the things I make, my ceramic offerings retain the look of being handmade and this is a part of their charm. Please make sure you consult the pictures carefully and that you are happy with the piece before purchasing.
Porcelain, wheel thrown pot. Painted decoration in blue underglaze and finished in a clear lead free glaze. Closed with a large cork that stands very proud of the pot.
