'forest bathing' serving platter
A forest of twelve little guardians, soaking up the magic of trees in the woods - my most ambitious piece to date, this weighty platter should make a lovely centrepiece to the table. My little guardian designs stem from my many encounters with the Jizō figures of Japan and the comfort (and often playfulness) they bring at unexpected moments.
Made from a rolled slab of porcelain, lain gently into a slump mould and trimmed. Brushed with blue porcelain slip (liquid clay) then freehand carved and scratched (sgraffito technique) to reveal the design and fired in an electric kiln. Coated in a clear glossy glaze, and then fired again to 1260 degrees. Dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended. Bottom design of blue bear face and ginkgo leaf carved in blue slip.
A handmade piece - please make sure you consult the pictures carefully and that you are happy with the piece before purchasing. Please note - Large platters are sent by courier due to size and weight.
