Found Wood - Sashiko Skittles
£95.00 Sold out
Being surrounded by old things all my life (born into a family of antique dealers) has definitely left its mark – I have a mixture of old and new pieces in my house, with a particular fondness for old wood – there’s really nothing like it. I began to gather bits and pieces that I thought might be coaxed into living a new and wholly unexpected life – either vintage objects or parts of wooden things long since past their original purpose. I have assembled and painted some ‘found wood’ Kokeshi from these parts or objects – total one-offs and priced accordingly.
This little set of English ninepins, a tabletop bowling game, have been decorated with tiny sashiko stitching inspired details in watercolour and gouache. The ball is a found piece, with a hole running through it – please make sure you consult the pictures carefully and that you are happy with the design and condition before purchasing. They have been finished in two coats of Danish oil for wood and gently polished with a soft cloth. Stamped underneath with ‘nakamura’ characters [中村] in red ink.
Each skittle is approximately 12.5cm high, the ball diameter is 6.5cm.
Please note: THIS IS NOT A TOY and should be kept out of the reach of children.
