The most comforting food turned into a porcelain ornament, which is glazed all over to feel nice to the touch. A Japanese staple, scoops of salted cooked white rice are moulded by hand (if you're skilled - if you're not, like me, in an inexpensive mould) into a triangle or round shape, and often wrapped in nori seaweed to prevent the rice sticking to your fingers - in the case of this one though, a pickled plum (umeboshi) has been added. We eat rice balls at home all the time, and often fill ours with tuna salad also. They are called o-nigiri, or o-musubi.

The first picture shows several grouped together - the one in this listing is shown in pictures 2 through 4.

As with most of the things I make, my ceramic pieces retain the look of being handmade and this is a part of their charm. Please make sure you consult the pictures carefully and that you are happy with the piece before purchasing. Please hang with care.

Moulded porcelain, decorated with purple/red underglaze and finished all over in a clear lead free glaze. Feels nice to hold.
Hung with a piece of ivory ribbon that can easily swapped to a hanging of your choice. Approximately 5cm high.
