'play' vending machine - baskets
I studied architecture at university, and my favourite part was the model making - I loved using the equipment that showed you the light conditions in a space at different times of the day, and the photography that allowed you to shrink in size (if only in the mind) and wander the spaces you had made. I did occasionally use clay for models back then, but also often of white card, with outlined edges. So I think it might have been inevitable that all these years later my love of Japanese vending machines has inspired me to make some model versions in thick slabs of porcelain, that can be interacted with, by setting up moveable pieces. I wanted the finished pieces to look like hand drawn 2D quick sketches come to life - alive and a bit wonky.
This piece has a couple of minor flaws that in no way affect the look or function of the piece, but therefore the piece is offered at a discounted sale price. Two tiny felt pads have been added to the back feet to help the piece stand a little more upright.
Please make sure you consult the pictures carefully and that you are happy with the piece before purchasing. You can also use these ceramic machines as tiny display cases for those other tiny treasures that never have a place to be appreciated.
Porcelain, chunky slab built 'play' sculpture, a substantial and heavy piece. Painted decoration in cobalt oxide and finished in a mottled tenmoku glaze, with matt white and matt black interior sections. Comes with 5 little porcelain pieces that can also be used as tiny bud vases.
Machine size: Approximately 23cm high/ 14.5cm wide/ 5cm deep.
PLEASE NOTE: Not for young children, as the small pieces could be swallowed.
Due to the weight, a courier service is required for delivery outside the UK.
