Potshard Dragon Girl
£95.00
My potshard dragon, a contemporary yokai idea - first made available as a made to order handpainted work on paper and now on a tall wood girl.
Artist's notes on style, materials and inspiration:
When digging my garden I often find pieces of broken pottery, thrown into the ground by previous generations - when I lived in a house in London near the former site of a Victorian brickworks, digging the pond was like a treasure hunt - glass bottles, smoking pipes, ceramics and tile pieces.
In the places where many such objects congregate, the underground dumps, the shard piles of potters, the collections of mudlarkers: life can begin to stir. Although rare and magical, with the right conditions, a Potshard Dragon may come into being...
This large girl is approximately 24.5cm in height. Signed and dated on the base.
My pieces are painted in a naïve and simple style, with visible brush strokes and differing paint consistencies. It is important to note that these dolls are made from real wood which will have naturally occurring markings and grain, and sometimes there will be small amount of bleeding along the grain, or knots, which is to be expected when using untreated wood - please make sure you consult the pictures carefully before purchasing.
PLEASE NOTE: Wood girls should be kept away from water which can damage the wood and painted surface, and also away from direct heat/ sunlight which also can affect the surface colour and the timber itself.
