When digging my garden I often find pieces of broken pottery, thrown into the ground by previous generations - when I lived in a house in London near the former site of a Victorian brickworks, digging the pond was like a treasure hunt - glass bottles, smoking pipes, ceramics and tile pieces.

In the places where many such objects congregate, the underground dumps, the shard piles of potters, the collections of mudlarkers: life can begin to stir. Although rare and magical, with the right conditions, a Potshard Dragon may come into being...

The outline is individually printed using Japanese pigment inks and a rubber printing block, with handpainted detail added using gouache and finally some silver foil highlights are given to finish. Due to the nature of production, each piece is unique and will have natural variations; the one you receive will not be exactly the same as the one shown in the photographs. As each piece is handpainted, there may be some paint on the paper outside the central image. Painted to order, please allow 10 days prior to shipping.

Printed on 140g oatmeal 100% recycled thin card (100% post consumer waste).
Paper size: A3 (297 x 420 mm or 11.7 x 16.5 inches).
Signed in pencil and stamped with nakamura characters [中村] in red ink.
