coffee & cake

Tea and coffee things have featured a lot in my work and I really wanted to have a cup with it's own magical spoon.

Constructed almost entirely from wood, hold the base with one hand and turn the handle to see the spoon stirring the coffee in the cup and the delicious victoria sponge go around on the fancy plate. This girls dress pattern is one found on some Japanese porcelain - peony petals gone mad in the iron red colour palette. There i also a jammy dodger biscuit in her hair making sure the cake plate stays spinning in place. There is a nice squeaky clunky action to the movement as the wooden mechanism works to turn all of the elements. Total height when assembled: 40cm. IMPORTANT: Should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from water/ humid environments. As with all automata, even the simplest ones, it is important to know that after a period of time they may dry out, seize up or become unstuck.
