grumpy is the new happy (fundraiser)

Artist's notes on style, materials and inspiration:

A grumpy wood girl who defies you to tell her to smile...

100% of the purchase price of this piece (less payment processing fees by Stripe/ Paypal) will be donated to Many Lands Mutual Aid, a vetted grassroots aid distribution project that puts your donations directly into the hands of displaced families in Gaza in the form of everything from access to solar charging, safe drinking water, groceries, transportation and community support. Hussein and his family team typically help between 30 and 60 families weekly. The living conditions in Gaza right now (many families in tents) means they face new challenges with each season - currently there is a scourge of insects and rodents and so hygiene kits have been the most needed item recently. Thank you for your solidarity with the people of Palestine.

She has been finished with an acrylic protective coat and signed underneath with a painted blue bear head. Approximately 20.5cm tall.

A note about 'Wood Girls'
My pieces are painted in a naïve and simple style, with visible brush strokes and differing paint consistencies. It is important to note that these dolls are made from real wood which will have naturally occurring markings and grain, and sometimes there will be small amount of bleeding along the grain, or knots, which is to be expected when using untreated wood - please make sure you consult the pictures carefully before purchasing.

My wooden girl shapes are made on a lathe by a registered professional British wood turner and then hand painted in the U.K. by me, an artist exploring patterns and scenes encountered on my travels and in daily life.

PLEASE NOTE: Wood girls should be kept away from water which can damage the wood and painted surface, and also away from direct heat/ sunlight which also can affect the surface colour and the timber itself. THIS IS NOT A TOY, and should be kept out of reach of children.
