daruma carousel
I am beginning to make moving wooden objects which I am calling 'twirlers' - inspired by my love of automata as a child - they are clunky to turn just like many folk toys made of wood, and represent the simple pleasure of being able to make something joyful out of a few pieces of wood and some paint.
This daruma carousel has a daruma that looks one way then the other under a twirling carousel of little darumas - more darumas are found elsewhere in the decoration.
Constructed from turned wood and other wooden pieces. The piece will come with twirling carousel separate for safer transit - just insert the stick down through the daruma on the side and firmly into the wooden disc (dots side up). The little daruma that forms the handle knob is meant to be unfixed just pop him onto the handle bar and when you turn the handle he stays still in your hand and it makes it easier to turn. Please refer to my Instagram page for videos of the piece in action - or add a request on checkout in the notes box and I can send a video by email. The piece is approximately 40.5cm tall when assembled.
SAFETY INFORMATION: NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 9.
IMPORTANT: Should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from water/ humid environments. As with all mechanical things, even the simplest ones, it is important to know that after a period of time they may dry out, seize up or become unstuck.
