the bug collector
I am beginning to make moving wooden objects which I am calling 'twirlers' - inspired by my love of automata as a child - they are clunky to turn just like many folk toys made of wood, and represent the simple pleasure of being able to make something joyful out of a few pieces of wood and some paint.
This girl loves to collect insects - well, she likes looking at insects and drawing insects, but actually she isn't too keen on actually 'catching' them - so she just waves her net around in the air and hopes that no insect actually gets caught.
Constructed from turned wood and other wooden pieces. The piece will come with the 'moth' part separate for transit - just push the wooden ball onto the flower stalk and the moth will be ready to fly. The little flower ball that forms the handle knob is meant to be unfixed just pop it onto the handle bar and when you turn the handle it stays still in your hand and it makes it easier to turn. Please refer to my Instagram page for videos of the piece in action - or add a request on checkout in the notes box and I can send a video by email. The piece is approximately 41cm tall when assembled.
SAFETY INFORMATION: NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 9.
IMPORTANT: Should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from water/ humid environments. As with all mechanical things, even the simplest ones, it is important to know that after a period of time they may dry out, seize up or become unstuck.
