from the archive: the kettle's birthday

£175

Artist's notes on inspiration and materials:

This piece celebrates my love for kettles and having a bit of fun with it. The set comprises a large wooden painted 'iron' kettle (made from a repurposed found wooden sugar bowl) with metal carry handle. The lid has the wood girls head on top, with a pretty little blue and white collar. Tucked inside is a piece of Victoria sponge birthday cake with two possible toppings - a little candle girl that can be turned to show her face or just the flame, and a little strawberry face. Also included is a blue and white plate for the cake. I can also add a wire 'steam cloud' coming from the spout if you would like (see other black kettle piece for an example) - you can choose from pale blue or black wire - just leave me a message when you checkout.

A note about 'Wood Girls':

My pieces are painted in a naïve and simple style, with visible brush strokes and differing paint consistencies. It is important to note that these dolls are made from real wood which will have naturally occurring markings and grain, and sometimes there will be small amount of bleeding along the grain, which is to be expected when using untreated wood - please make sure you consult the pictures carefully before purchasing. Finished in a top coat of matt acrylic.

Painted underneath the kettle and lid, plate and mat with roaring blue bear head and dated 2024.

Kettle approximately 15cm high by 19cm wide.

Please note: Wood girls should be kept away from water which can damage the wood and painted surface, and also away from direct heat/ sunlight which also can affect the surface colour and the timber itself. THIS IS NOT A TOY and should be kept out of the reach of children.
