girl with an 80's boombox

Along with my love of vending machines and launderettes, I have a soft spot for vintage boomboxes and cassette players. I have a late 1970's Hitachi cassette player at home but also covet my sister-in-law's 1980's yellow Panasonic tape player which is just the cutest - the two sort of got combined in this wood girl set. The girl is wearing her block print t-shirt in pastels and brights, and sporting freshly crimped hair, and alongside her is a yellow mini 'bearsonic' boombox made from an oak block - with dials and switches aplenty.

Artist notes:
My pieces are painted in a naïve and simple style, with visible brush strokes and differing paint consistencies. It is important to note that these dolls are made from real wood which will have naturally occurring markings and grain, and sometimes there will be small amount of bleeding along the grain, or knots, which is to be expected when using untreated wood - please make sure you consult the pictures carefully before purchasing. She has been finished in a top coat of matt acrylic.

This girl was turned from yellow poplar by a production turner to my design and then hand painted and added to by me, a British artist, exploring patterns and scenes encountered by me on my travels and in daily life.

The girl is painted underneath with a blue bear head and the text '2026 (1986), and the boombox also has a blue bear head on the base and the text 'bbvco. 2026'.
Wood girl measures approximately 14cm high and the boombox measures approximately 8.5cm wide x 7cm tall (excluding aerial) x 3.6cm deep.

THIS IS NOT A TOY and should be kept out of the reach of children.
Wood girls should be kept away from water which can damage the wood and painted surface, and also away from direct heat/ sunlight which also can affect the surface colour and the timber itself.
