porcelain vending machine - kokeshi
£42.00
A small vending machine sculpture, made using a very minimal 'kurinuki' technique - cutting a block of clay and then carving out from inside the block to reduce the weight. My intention was to make minimal intervention with the block - the inner carved surface still retains the look of the carved clay.
Carved porcelain, decorated with cobalt oxide and coloured underglazes then coated in a soft matt white glaze that makes the decorated lines change to an almost dark green breaking to soft blue/ white in parts, and the little 'window' clear glazed, making the colours more jewel-like. Stamped on the reverse with my bear head stamp.
Approximately 7.5cm high x 6cm wide.
As with most of the things I make, my ceramic pieces retain the look of being handmade and this is a part of their charm. Please make sure you consult the pictures carefully and that you are happy with the piece before purchasing.
Shipping note: Shipping within the UK is free, and to the US is slightly subsidised to reduce the cost to customer.
