Tokyo Corner No. 6 - Original Watercolour
A series celebrating the everyday urban streets of Tokyo – looking at the old and new, the peeling paint and cracked concrete, the buckets, bins, bicycles, container gardens, studios, shops, gas and electric meters, pipes and drains. Tokyo is always changing, and yet always the same, and with my studies in blue I hope to capture some of my experience of wandering its streets (and sometimes the emotional ‘pull’ I feel when someone else captures an image and shares it).
This scene of a store in Kichijoji is typical of some fashionable neighbourhood Japanese stores - always with objects set outside and the obligatory bicycle...
Original watercolour on Seawhite acid-free 350gsm watercolour paper.
Titled, dated and signed in pencil on the reverse, with 'nakamura' [中村] stamp in red pigment ink.
Paper size: A3 (297 x 420 mm or 11.7 x 16.5 inches).
